Good for my kid

I got the Reading Horizons Discovery Software. It worked well. My daughter started understanding phonics better in just a few weeks. The setup was easy enough. No real complaints on my end.

Decent program, some minor issues

I bought the Reading Horizons At-Home program for my son. The phonics lessons are well-structured, and he seems to be making progress. Delivery of the student workbook took about a week, which was okay but not super fast. The software itself is pretty good, though it sometimes lagged a bit on our older tablet. Customer support was helpful when I had a question about the placement test. Overall, it's a solid program for the price, just wished the software ran a little smoother.

Homeschool program was a good fit

We just tried the Homeschool Reading Curriculum and I'm happy with it. It's been a few months now. My youngest was having a tough time with reading and this program really clicked for them. The online part is pretty easy to navigate, nothing too complicated. Took 5 days for the Decodable Readers to reach us. I like that it's all laid out step-by-step. It wasn't cheap, but it feels like a good investment for their reading skills. Definitely better than some other things we tried.

Does anyone know if they ever do bigger sales than like 10-20% off the subscription? I'm trying to decide if I should buy now or wait for Black Friday or something.

They definitely have sales around Black Friday and Back to School. I got my annual subscription last September during a sale, it was a pretty good deal. Not sure if it's much more than 20%, but sometimes they throw in extra stuff.

Yeah, if you're looking for a better discount, waiting for a holiday sale like Black Friday or Cyber Monday is a good bet. Also, if you homeschool, they usually have a specific discount for that too.

Hey, wondering if anyone's tried the at-home version for an older kid? My 10-year-old struggles a bit still and I'm looking for something that actually works. Is it like the school program or kinda watered down for home?

Yeah, I use it for my 11-year-old. It's actually really solid, not watered down at all. I think they have two main ones, Discovery for younger kids and Elevate for older ones, so make sure you get the right one. Elevate is definitely the school-grade stuff.

They say it's effective for struggling readers, and I think the at-home version is basically the same method as the school one, just packaged differently. Worth checking out the 30-day trial to see if it clicks with your kid.
